Contracts and RFPs… they are a changin’…or are they?

September 9, 2021 @ 11:30 am1:00 pm EDT

PCMA Education Committee Presents:

PCMACE Webinar:  Contracts and RFPs… they are a changin’…or are they?

Date: September 09, 2021

Time: 11:30AM – 1:00PM EST

Description:

As we cautiously move back to events, RFPs and CONTRACTS are still “hot topics” in our industry!  Have venues updated their contracts?  Are pre-COVID boilerplate templates still being used?  What clauses do planners need to know about now?  How do planners capture our technology and duty of care needs in RFPs?  Have the electronic RFP tools been updated?  We are all moving through this uncertain landscape together – and it helps when we can share and learn from each other.

PCMA Canada East Chapter has organized a cross-section of industry experts to generate discussion around RFPs and CONTRACTS….what they have seen, what has been working, current challenges, and what they believe will help us move forward better in the future.

Heather Reid is Founder and CEO of Planner Protect Inc.  With almost 30 years’ experience as an independent event planner, Planner Protect Inc. helps event hosts and industry professionals negotiate thorough and balanced contracts.  Planners, venue representatives and corporate events teams all recognize Heather as a trusted and knowledgeable expert in her field.

Heather has received awards for her thought leadership and commitment to the industry including Connect Association’s 15 over 50 (2021), a Smart Women in Meetings award in the “Innovator” category (2017), and the Canadian Meetings & Events Expo (CMEE) Hall of Fame award – also in the “industry Innovator” category (2017).

To avoid “down-time” during the industry-wide pause caused by the COVID pandemic – Heather undertook two major projects.  First, Heather collaborated with Heidi Wilker CMP Emeritus on a year-long, national project (www.chroniclinglessonslearned.ca) documenting the experiences and insights of 38 Canadian event planners as they deconstructed or reconstructed their impacted events.

And second, Heather enrolled in a year-long, accelerated Paralegal Studies course to enhance her legal knowledge in order to serve Planner Protect Inc.’s clients even better!  She plans to be licensed in February 2022.
