Chapter Workshop: The Power of Food on your Mind, Body and Soul! (Toronto)

May 30, 2018 @ 8:00 am11:00 am EDT

8am-9am – Breakfast/Networking/Registration

9am-11am – Workshop

Your brain is always active, especially when travelling, planning or on-site at events! Did you know that 20% of your total energy needs in a given day is utilized by the brain? Just like a car, if you are fueling your body with low-grade gas, then you’re running on sub-par energy sources and eventually it will catch up to you! Discover how nutrition plays a role in biological processes that affect your mood, work productivity and even your level of happiness.

In this session, you will:

1. Examine the key nutrients your body requires to function optimally.

2. Identify dietary strategies that will ensure your body receives good nutrition regardless of work circumstances (e.g. off-site meetings, long commutes, catered lunches, etc.)

3. Observe first-hand the steps involved to coordinate and plan for energy-boosting meals for your next work event!

Nutrition advice is everywhere these days, which can make it even harder for people to know what to do and who to trust for nutrition guidance when planning event menus or to eat healthier in their own lives. Amanda and Suzanne are Registered Dietitians – licensed health care practitioners who also happen to be food geeks. Together we translate the sciences of nutrition into interactive presentations that include practical dietary tips, recipes and menus that can be applied to the home and corporate settings. Our common goal is to educate busy professionals to optimize their health through good nutrition. Individually, Amanda created Wellness Simplified where she equips, encourages and empowers individuals and families across Canada to prioritize their health and well-being; starting in the kitchen. Suzanne runs inVIVOWELLNESS which specializes in recipe and resource development, incorporating fitness with nutrition initiatives and menu planning.
