Join PCMA Canada East in this interactive food and beverage educational networking session at one of Ottawa’s most celebrated restaurants. Hear from the Soif culinary duo about new trends in the food and beverage scene and about sustainability. Soif makes many choices to be a ecologically responsible business; composting, buying local, recycling, choosing to serve smaller animals and “less” desirable cuts.
Enjoy a selection of Soif sharing boards, canapes and a 3 wine tasting session.
Soif Culinary Duo:
Kris brings 15 years of culinary experience to the Soif team with 10 of them being in a management roll. He has a B.A from Carleton university as well as a WSET level 3 certificate. Kris has worked for several top chefs and restaurant groups in the Ottawa region including Marc Lepine, The Urban Element, The Whalesbone Group, and The Hintonburg Public house. He is responsible for menu planning as well as overseeing kitchen operations at Soif.
Roxanne has over twenty years experience in the hospitality industry. She started working in restaurants at the age of 14 as a student job, fell in love with the industry and later made her career out of it. After a bachelor’s degree in sociology at Concordia University in Montreal, Roxanne set out on a Caribbean adventure, where she ended up working as a private chef for an affluent family in the Bahamas, for close to two years.
When she returned to Canada in 2011, she joined the prestigious Oliver & Bonacini group in Toronto (one of Canada’s most important restaurant groups) and was part of the opening service team for Bannock restaurant. She was then promoted to Jump restaurant as Head Server, where she started on her wine education journey, through extensive in-house staff training.
In 2013 she moved to Ottawa to join the prestigious Stephen Beckta restaurant group and take part in the opening of Gezellig, where she quickly rose to Head Server, a position she held for two years. While at Gezellig, she started on her WSET journey and completed Level 3.
In 2015, she was offered a position as Manager at SOIF Bar à Vin de Véronique Rivest, where she has also been put in charge of the wine program and staff training.
Roxanne is highly regarded as one of the top hospitality professionals in our country, by her fellow colleagues, employers and customers.
